As you know here at The Vintage Cocktail Company we like to promote and use products and services of other local or small businesses.
After hearing about our company we were recently contacted by Pickering's Gin who invited us to have a tour around their distillery at Summerhall Edinburgh, to learn about the history of the company and to see first hand how their gin is produced.
On Tuesday 12th August we boarded the train to Edinburgh and made our way to the former Veterinary College, which is now used as an arts venue. The Pickering's Gin distillery is housed in an old animal hospital behind The Royal Dick public house.
From the minute we entered the distillery it was clear to us that each bottle of Pickering's Gin is lovingly hand crafted.
From the carefully selected and measured 9 botanicals used which are then added to the grain spirit in a 500 litre copper still named "Gert", through to the hand dipped wax seals.
During our meeting we had the opportunity to try hand dipping our own wax seals and of course sample each of gin's produced, including their Navy strength gin which was created to celebrate Pickering's Gin becoming the official gin of the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo.
We had such an enjoyable experience and were so impressed by the company we have decided to use Pickering's Gin in our cocktails.
Tours of the distillery are open to the public and if you haven't already we highly recommend you drop by, where you will be openly welcomed by one of the friendly staff members of their closely knit team.
